Saidpur
Saidpur (Town) consists of 15 wards and 43 mahallas. The area of the town is 34.42 sq km. The town has a population of 110151; male 51.02%, female 48.98%. The density of population is 3200 per sq km. Literacy rate among the town people is 39.3%. The biggest railway workshop of the assam-bengal railways was established at Saidpur Town in 1870. Saidpur has become a manufacturing town due to this railway workshop. Saidpur Municipality was established in 1858. The town has an airport.
Administration Saidpur thana, now an upazila, was established in 1915. The upazila consists of one municipality, 15 wards, 6 union parishads, 72 mouzas and 40 villages.

Historical events Once Saidpur was under the kingdom of Kamrupa. Alauddin Syed Hussain Shah, king of Gaur, built a fort at Kellabari Hat near Saidpur during his invasion of Kamrupa. The descendants of Hussain Shah lived here.
