Ningbo City lies in Southeast China, northeast of Zhejiang Province. It is surrounded by the sea and the mountain with the city area of 1033km2 and the built-up areas 685 km2.

The topography of the city is high in southwest and low in northeast. The climate of the city belongs to subtropical monsoon Climate.

Ningbo City has the history of over one thousand years and it is the key harbor city of China foreign trade, which has developed a new comprehensive, advanced and developed city. The population of the city had been 5,410,000 by the end of 2000.
