The Mongkol Borei River forms the district boundary to the east towards Preah Netr Preah. The main roads passing through the district are National Highway 5 and 6.

The Mongkol Borei River is a river in Mongkol Borei District in Banteay Meanchey Province in western Cambodia. It flows from the border of Prachin Buri province in Thailand and runs through Mongkol Borei and neighbouring districts.
