Karakol (Kyrgyz:Каракол), formerly Przhevalsk, is a city of about 75,000, near the eastern tip of Lake Issyk-Kul in Kyrgyzstan,

about 150 km from the Kyrgyzstan-China border and 380 km from the capital Bishkek.

It is the administrative capital of Ysyk-Kol Oblasty (province).
