Anshan is seated in the mid of the beautiful and richly endowed Liaodong peninsular, lying against Mt Qian in the east, adjoining the Liao River Plains in the west, neighboring the port cities, Yingkou and Dalian in the south and linking Shenyang, the Capital of Liaoning province in the north.

Anshan is the largest base of iron and steel industry in China and has always been known as the “Steel Metropolis”, It comprises of the city of Haicheng, the county of Taian and anchu autonomous county of Xiuyan as well as four urban districts (Tiedong, Tiexi, Lishan and Jirpu) under its jurisdiction, covering a total area of 9251 square meters, with a population is 3.396 million.

It is one of the 50 cities with higher comprehensive strength of China.
